The Brief
This concept project was developed using a full brief supplied by Nicole Papaioannou Lugano. Seymour Lane PR is an agency who handle representation for social media influencers, particularly TikTokers with large followings.
The Problem: Interns new to Seymour Lane often lack the polished professionalism required of their roles, confusing casual with unprofessional. This can lead to unsatisfied clients and reputational damage.
The Audience: New interns at Seymour Lane PR, average ages 21-25.
The Solutions: An interactive e-learning module and some revisions to hiring procedures.
The Process
Analysis: Most of the analysis for this project was included in the brief, additional considerations included prior learning and application of knowledge in the project.
Design: I began the design phase by action mapping in order to identify some of the most important actions that interns could take to improve their professional communication. I use a fairly robust template for my design process, which includes references to learning theories to keep myself on track. In designing this piece, the key for me was to ensure that there was no extraneous information to avoid cognitive overload. In addition I really wanted this project to be scenario-based, rather than a list of guidelines for learners to follow in their professional communication.
Development: I wire-framed an outline (pen and paper – old school!) of the story and then brought it into Adobe XD. After receiving feedback on the aesthetic of the project, I revised it and created another rapid prototype in XD. Getting approval, I moved into Storyline 360 to complete the final project. I used graphics from freepik.com, and modified them using Adobe Illustrator. The mobile phone and zoom screens I created from scratch.
Implementation: As Seymour Lane PR has no LMS, the Storyline files did not need to be exported as a SCORM file. Instead, I exported and published to AWS, so this learning experience would be available from any web browser.
Evaluation: This is detailed in the design document and would be evidenced in performance appraisals of the interns.
